Frugal Fresh

Today was a long day. I wasted some money on some donuts. I had some fruit and pineapple juice though. Well, I did get one donut out of the deal. But the rest of it was quite ineffective. I learned some techniques that I could use later I believe. That is always good. We are always in the process of learning. I learned what I could do better at also. We will make adjustments. I am not Greg Popovich. You see what I did there? I don’t think so. 

I had chicken alfredo for dinner and just got finished really watching a great game. From my timeline, it might have looked like I was going for the Spurs. That is what I got and a lot more. My sports brain couldn’t take it really. Game 7 will be even crazier. I don’t know who to take. I am not that big of a betting man so I will leave it in the hand of the sports gods. If it is anything like game 6, I will definitely be satisfied. We are truly spoiled here in America.

Sunday was cool. I ended my night off with a late night porch session while enjoying the breeze. My neighborhood is getting wilder everyday. But it was cool to be out there. I listened to a little of Yeezus. I will probably listen to the rest later on. I still have to write a little piece on Born Sinner. I will probably do that later on today. I also have to finished watching season 2 of Game of Thrones.

What else? I had spaghetti for dinner. Wait, yesterday was not Sunday. It was Monday. This is what happens when you are unemployed. You forget the days of the week. They should add a day to the week. How does Wireday sound? I wanted to match up the W’s with the T’s. It really didn’t work. I’m rambling now as J. Cole would say. This is going to be it for today. 

P.S. What do you notice about that picture? 

It was Father’s Day yesterday. So where was I? Yes, my father’s house like I was supposed to be. I didn’t make him breakfast in bed. I didn’t do much for him. I got him some grilling gloves but I felt I could do more. I will do that later down the road I think. My grandfather and grandmother came by also. It was a pleasure to see them. It was weird to be as open with my grandmother as I am now. I haven’t seen her in quite some time. She is doing well though. 

The Spurs won last night if you didn’t know. I really don’t know how. They just did. I can’t think of who was the deciding factor and I watched the entire game. Did Birdman play last night? I don’t think so. I would look at the box scores but I rather not right now. I want to keep my head empty for a while. Why are my corduroy pants in my chair? I don’t know. 

P.S. Obama is on the cover of one of my graduation cards. 

I can get this done easily. There was a lot that happened yesterday. I went to the FAMU Alumni cookout. It was quite far. But once I got there, I had a pretty good time. It was good to see some old faces in unfamiliar places. I know that is not a real saying but it sounds good. The food was pretty good too. It was a good place to start off the day.

After the cookout, we tried to go to a “day” party. But we thought the “day” party extended to a “nightly” affair. It didn’t. By the time we got there, it was only an hour or so left in the party. There was no reason to go in there. I don’t see the logic. Someone tried to explain it to me because someone came in from out of town. But I still don’t get from where she is coming from. It’s foolishoso. I just made that up. I am going to end it now. I have some Game of Thrones to watch. 

P.S. We went back to Bar Louie. 

Hanging with your parents is always good. That is what I did yesterday. I was there mostly with family. It felt like I was at home. But I was just paying for the drinks this time. My cousin is the bartender. My mother and father on my side and my friends on the other side. It was a good atmosphere. I had a pretty good ham, turkey and brie sandwich. Yes, I am eating brie. I have a little class. I would like to think so. 

After the family time, it was a big swing and a miss pretty much. I went to a club. But after finding perfect parking, I couldn’t get in. My friend doesn’t know how to put together for all setting. I would like to think all my clothes I could go from eating chicken at a cook out to eating caviar at a hotel bar. I have never done that before but I just like to be versatile. Everyone can not be. I would tell the bartender story here too but I don’t feel like it. I will just say don’t throw my change down on the bar like I am a peasant. 

The Heat won tonight huh? I seen that old Wade for a second. I felt good for him. Gabrielle Union must have made him watch the director’s cut of The Box. I used that joke before. I just used Deliver Us from Eva the first time. It was funnier the first time. But in the end, Danny Green or Gary Neal didn’t shoot lights out so the Spurs lost. Will that happen in game 5? I don’t know. But we are all intrigued to find out. No one wants basketball to end too soon. We still have at least three months until football start. The WNBA only has five teams. That won’t be enough.

I just tasted a fresh mango. I think I like it better in my drinks. It is too soft and mushy. It taste like baby food a little. It looks like cantaloupe. I think this will be my last piece. I know you didn’t come here for my mango critique but that is what you are going to get. Let me take one more bite. Yeah, it isn’t for me. It gets cold too quick too. Maybe I will try papaya next. It might be in my next journal entry.

I went to Home Depot today. I did add an errand to my list. I got that chair out of my mother’s hallway. She said I couldn’t fit it in my car. I showed her Alma could handle that easy. She did. It wasn’t a problem really. It actually gave me time to peruse a thrift store. I picked up a shirt and a tie. I liked the shirt better than the tie. But I only paid a $1 for the tie. I don’t think I will ever buy a tie from a “real” store. The ties in the thrift store have a lot of character to them.

I am at my father’s house now. He doesn’t have HBO so I can’t catch up on Game of Thrones. I could watch it online. But I was getting used to it watching On Demand. I might watch an episode tonight before I go to sleep. I doubt it though. I am getting a tad sleepy. What time is it? 11:41?!?! Sheesh, I have someone to blame for the restlessness though. I actually have many factors. Am I going to end the journal entry like that? I got nothing else. My Macbook is still making them swiper noises and I don’t know why. Help me. Please. & Thank you.

How do you have a list to complete some tasks and you still don’t complete all of them? Well, that happened to me today. I think I was thrown off when my grandmother wasn’t at the house. I just had this mental picture of chatting with her for about thirty minutes while that old lady show plays that Betty White was in. I can’t remember the name right now. But my grandmother wasn’t the only one not home. My grandfather or great grandmother wasn’t there either. I just had to drop off the food in an awkward spot. I hope they find it. If not, my mother will probably tell them. I will just complete that one task I need to do tomorrow. I will add a few more errands to make sure I am not just running out for one item. 

I have to make sure I don’t go through rush hour though. I made that mistake yesterday. I really made the mistake of missing my exit. I was on the phone. I got distracted. I made a meatloaf tonight. I cleaned out the refrigerator. I watched some more of Game of Thrones. I have one more episode to watch to complete season one. I wanted to finish it tonight. It is getting a tad bit late though. I have some more tasks I want to take care of. Game of Thrones is somewhat on the bottom of the list.
